IT operations

Platforms, runbooks, change, and monitoring

This review is for an organization whose platforms, runbooks, and change practice have to hold after the visit, including a team preparing ISO 27001 evidence from daily operations. Serving clients across the U.S. Remote-first, with on-site travel available. We work around your normal operations, and we'll need access to the right areas and the right people while we do.

Platforms and the week

We review the operation as it is actually run. The review covers the systems we can reach, the people who operate them, and the leadership that owns the decisions.

Operations, security, and infrastructure are one practice, because a weakness in any one of them appears in the others. Security, quality, and infrastructure are examined as one system, from hardware and networks through cloud and data.

You receive a written account of what needs attention and what must change for the operation to keep running. The engagement establishes procedures, ownership, and operating habits. We work around your normal operations, and we'll need access to the right areas and the right people while we do. Leadership and an assessor can read the same account the operators use.

What we look at

Platforms: whether they stay stable for the work the facility actually runs.

Runbooks: whether they are maintained, and whether operators and leadership are using the same account.

Change control: whether it is observed in the operation, including who accepts a change.

Monitoring: whether an alert reaches the person who can act. A queue that no one owns is a finding.

A shared administrator account, or a backup of an operations tool that has never been restored, is written down. Where the limit is hours rather than a missing tool, the recommendation says so.

Who this is for

We look at who accepts a change, where the runbook diverges from the steps operators actually take, and whether monitoring reaches the person who can act.

The written account names the owner of each gap. Follow-on contract support or a hire is agreed separately from the assessment fee. How the fee works. That follow-on still needs access to the right areas and the right people. We do not carry out a correction without them, and we do not leave the finding with no one who can carry it out.

The same account is what an assessor and the operators can both read: platforms in use, the runbook version, the last change, and the person who received the alert.

That includes the people who approve changes and the systems the operators use on a normal day. Once you approve it, we'll need access to the right areas and people.

What this is not

This page does not place a fractional engineer as the opening move. Naming the owner comes first. See fractional DevOps and SRE. An ongoing fractional placement, if you still want one, is Coalesce Ops.

We do not replace the platform because a diagram is old. We replace a system only when the record cannot carry the work.

We do not issue an ISO/IEC 27001 certificate. Daily operations evidence for that readiness is on ISO 27001 readiness. We work around your normal operations, and we'll need access to the right areas and the right people while we do.

Questions

Is this a software product?

No. REKKY Sec Ops Consulting is a consulting practice. We work around your normal operations, and we'll need access to the right areas and the right people while we do. The work is specific to the environment you run.

What if the gap is hours, not a tool?

The written account says so. Contract support or a hire can be scoped after the account, and only if you want it. We work around your normal operations, and we'll need access to the right areas and the right people while we do. We do not add a person and call the finding closed without the people who already run the week.
